    Hi all,
Who has the responsibility of installing the shower door? Plumber, builder or home owner?

Not meaning to be a smart arse but its the responsibility of whoever is being paid to fit it; that is, whichever contractor has explicitly stated that they would be fit them, preferably in writing.

I'm guessing this document isn't in place.
Its a little hard to argue who is responsible for what, especially with regard to the fitting of a shower door as any trade from the plumber, carpenter, tiler, the main contractor or home owner has undoubtedly fitted them on some job at some time.

IMO in the absence of a explicitly worded contract this issue will be hard to resolve.

Thanks for your response. It's as your surmised not stated in writing on the plans. Need to talk to the pm to see if it is the builders contracts but was just checking really if there was a hard and fast rule generally

Not sure to be honest. Would need to check contracts at home. I just though I would see what the general consensus was first. I will give the pm a quick call and see. Not a huge issue in the grand scheme of things but would like to get it sorted before anyone leaves build

If you ask the builder nicely he might have someone on site that could fit them for you depending on what type they are.
Most Builders usually state on there quote that "shower doors to be fitted by others" as they can usually be more trouble than there worth as some can be broken easily.

    My thinking is.

If you specified a "builders finish" then the shower door could be considered extra as it could just be a shower curtain. But that would be petty IMO.

If a more detailed finish was specified and agreed with contractor then it's his/her problem. Also you say you have a PM. It's something I would think they could deal with on your behalf.
