Gearbox problem

    Hi everybody.
I had this little problem that become a huge one.
While changing the tyres I `ve noticed that the left CV boot is damaged. I bought the part and drove to the garage to change it. Left the car there. the car supposed to be ready in few hours, then he rang me and said that the CV joint is broken because when he put it all together, it start to make the `click` noise, he said he has got a 2nd hand one, that can replace with. Next day I collect the car, took it for a spin. I could still hear the `click` noise and on the top of that, there was some other noise coming from the car.
He said it`s probably inside drive shaft bearing. He said he`ll buy the bearing after weekend and finally fix it. I told him i need a car to drive and he said that `its ok to drive` and to come back after weekend. 2 days later i found an oil spot under the car it was exactly under the gearbox. After the weekend i called in to the garage again and told about the problem. He said he is getting the same car and just swap the whole drive shaft. So he did. he rang me yesterday and said the car is ready. Once again i took it for a spin and once again i could hear some noise coming from the gearbox.
Now he is telling me that its the bearing in the gearbox, and that i need to change the whole gearbox.
After buying the car two and a half year ago (around 23000 motorway miles ago) we already changed the gearbox. Its a renault clio 02 1.2
Can anybody advise if he could damage the thing or its just a very strange coincidence.
    Thanks

If it's a bearing in the gearbox then it's just a coincidence as the cv will not damage internal bearings.

Get him to change the gearbox oil which may cure or dampen down the noise.

Even if the noise continues you can still drive the car, it won't do any real harm. If the noise gets very loud or gears are hard to engage then it maybe time t change the gearbox but I wouldn't bither for an 02 car. Drive it till it dies.

It sounds like you dont have confidence in the garage. If that is the case you can always get a second opinion somewhere else. Done be afraid to call to another garage to get it looked at.
