Setanta commentators saying that it's something to do with crowd congestion at the tube station and that many of the fans will have missed the goal.

Would a draw in the other game be the best possible result for us?

We'd qualify tonight I think if that happened

Game is made for Walcott to come on and get a couple.

Some great passing but litte penetration.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,825 ✭✭✭Timmyctc

Good save. Mandanda came well off his line though

FFS Ozil. Why didn't Giroud take it.
Ozil is poor again tonight. His passing has been bad.

TBF Giroud had a fistful of yer mans shirt too.

A penalty should be hit low and hard like a terrier's mickey.

Ozil needs a goal. His confidence looks off at the moment.

I'd give him a wee rest and put on Gnabry.

Both teams going through the motions and its rather sickening to watch tbh. Absolute criminal penalty from Ozil. Put it away, put the game beyond doubt and give Walcott and Gnabry game time.

Can't say I don't agree. He's been poor. Not just tonight either.

He looks so fragile mentally usually, but looks a lot worst at the moment.

Hope he keeps his head up and doesn't start getting frustrated and annoyed.

Cant see why it would be though? Hangover from Madrid??

Looks like a player who's attitude and interest level are not where it should be at.

Did he really want to leave Madrid, that's the question.

Agree with the sentiment, Özil has been awful for a while now.

Think it but afraid to say it. Think you have it spot on. Always felt that even early on with body language, reaction to goals, etc

Pretty sure it's well known he was forced out rather than wanted to leave. I wouldn't put his form down to that though, I think he's still adapting and having a little dip in form but has been far from awful. Still creates chances in most matches. He'll come good, i'm sure of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Ozil is Muslim irrc. Many Muslim sports professionals experience a dip in form during and after Ramadan.

I know what you mean, I saw that too, although he did look happy a few games in.

But he is looking like a player with his mind elsewhere.

anyhow, lets not get carried away with Ozil, he's still class.

I expect us to put these guys to the sword this half, they're terrible and deserve a roasting and we're far, far too comfortable with the 1 goal lead which isn't good enough and if I'd paid to watch that game I'd be demanding the team up their performance.
