I know with the 3 door version, the back windows dont open out, so an aftermarket roofrack cant be fitted, so does anyone know what the deal is with the sportback, what are those two low profile bars?

They are silver bars? Yeah they're actual rails.
You can retrofit these too but its a but of a job.

You can get roof bars for sport backs without rails too. Part Number 8P9071126

Some sportbacks have panoramic sunroofs, not sure whether these can take bars. Worth clarifying before buying.
