That's a great price. Must drop in to local Tesco to see if they have any.

I guess its the portable one?

Wonder if these can be found online for similar-ish prices. Might have a look in Tesco Carlow tomorrow.

I have two of these touros and they run perfectly. Speed for file transfers is one of the best I've used, even on USB 2.0. At €22.50 it's a must buy IMO. If they had them in my local Tesco I'd be up there picking up 2-3 at that price.

The deathstar issue was 2001 and inherited from IBM i think its time to let it go.
Backblaze who consume vast quantities of consumer drives have found hitachi to be most reliable.

    th283,

Where were these located in Killarney ?

I was in there yesterday and didn't see any Hitachi. The cheapest of the 500GB's were around 69 euro.

    indeed. :)

the 'deathstar' nickname is as old as darth vader himself and they have long since improved (vastly).

as has already been said, they're good enough for a macbook pro, one of the most reliable laptops you can buy. and that's coming from someone who has an irrational hatred of all things apple related. :D

also, i have 7x 4tb deskstars in my NAS and they're great.

    From your personal experience...

    Mine is very, very different.

Hitachi are one of the biggest Hard Drive manufacturers in the world, They're the main drives gone into the systems of Information Storage technology giants "EMC", famous for guaranteeing no data loss.

I can ensure there's nothing wrong with Hitachi drives, follow?

    Nice price OP

Is was under the impression that they mainly used Seagate and STEC in the Clariion and Symmetrix arrays.

Hi :) they were on the normal hard drive shelf, with just a yellow reduced label underneath
