    Hi All,

Need some advice. I had my wallet stolen on me the other day and of course it had to contain my new credit card style driving licence. I am currently on a 2 year visa in Canada so getting a new one is more complicated than normal. Has anyone had any experience with replacing a driving licence while abroad? I will be home at xmas and would like to be able to drive around while I am at home

thanks for the reply but unfortunately its not much good for me as they require you to be in the country it seems.

No contact details for the local offices on the site either?

I lost my licence while on holidays in the czech republic before. The local embassy got me sorted with a letter confirming I had a full licence and that it was stolen on their letterhead translated into Czech slovack and English. Also had a piece of paper from local police station saying it was stolen. When I was pulled over for making an illegal right turn later in the trip the policeman left me off saying that i had enough bad luck already on my holidays.

Our embassy staff around the world are very good. Give them a shout and you will get sorted.

Thanks for the advice. Thankfully the taxi driver tracked me down yesterday by calling up a physio number which was on a receipt tucked into my wallet. Delighted to get it back so gave him a sizeable tip to reward what was a really cool thing to do
