    + VAT and duty?

EDIT: Sorry, VAT and duties paid?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 houseinthesun

Yeah, that was something that I was worried about, Vat and Duties, but it appears that you can now pay that up front and not have any surprises when it arrives at your door. It is an option you get when purchasing.
It is estimated charges of which there was €44.:(

Cool. It wouldn't allow me using an Irish address.

or pay them on receipt of the item or get lucky and not get charged at all!

Got the 16gb the other night for $199. Ordered via US Buyers Club so hoping it will slip by customs. They're a good deal cheaper in the US.

FYI - as far as I'm aware the US version of the phone won't work with 4g here. Should function perfectly otherwise though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 houseinthesun

Not using it as a phone, just as a tablet for my daughter. The 16Gb is available for €219 in PCworld after cashback with the 32Gb best price at €269 so around 15% saving

More than 15% if it gets by customs, $199 is approx €148. Had a look at them in Curry's the other night and was pretty impressed. I'm getting it for my daughter too, had almost got her the kindle fire hd and glad now I didn't.

Thanks for the tip OP. I'm looking for one of these myself and the best I've found was dabs.ie for €242.24. Didn't notice if they offer free delivery.

I'm still hoping it'll pop up cheaper somewhere though.

[edit] Just looked again; with VAT & delivery it comes to €257.65 on dabs.ie. [/edit]

Oh god, lucky! Kindle Fire is really nice hardware, but the eco-system is so restricted.

Seems like a decent spot OP, be sure to update this thread with how long it took to ship and final cost of everything!

Yes the kindle looks good but fairly limited. Just thought I'll have to buy a charger for nexus I guess?

Just after purchasing the 2013 32Gb Google Nexus 7 from amazon for €235 delivered with duties paid from Amazon.com, estimated delivery 7th-19th December, hopefully it will be here by christmas, thats the best price I have seen it at.
    This one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DVFLJKQ/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Might get this if it's 235 all in.
Where does it specify duty has been paid on it.

This is a tablet, you're thinking of the Nexus 5 phone.

Looking for a QI charger for one of these, anyone know a good place to start? Amazon won't ship them to my address. Also looking for a case/keyboard/stand combo for someone with big hands.

How easy would it be for an older person to use a chromecast in conjunction with one of these?

Incredibly. Watch a chromecast video on YouTube. Couldn't get more straight forward tbh.

The Nexus 7 arrived yesterday as promised, everything in order, was not hit with any extra charges. There is no mention of any customs duty/taxes that the package was hit with! Does this mean I can get my deposit back from Amazon.com? :D

    Who delivered it.
A crowd called iparcel are delivering mine (was meant to get it yesterday) but they've a pretty bad reputation judging by many complaints on Amazon.
They've referred me to Fastway (who aren't answering either) and it seems to be stuck in Customs for the last few days so I'm starting to worry.

Yes i-parcel were the trans continental shipment company and then it was Fastway.
Did you check the fastway website for the tracking?

    Yeah.
I got a tracking number for Fastway from iparcel after they referred me to them but this isn't working yet.
Fastway tell me this tracking number won't become useable until the package is in their system. And referred me back to iparcel.
Who aren't answering. Just voicemail. Left messages but no response.

So I've got an (as yet meaningless) tracking number. Ridiculous tbh.

Edit: only hope is your post that you got yours.
    Fingers crossed.
