Sounds like a great price - I take it that it's E29 for two, rather than each.

    That's still a good price.

The reason I asked was that the Aldi Christmas guide says they will have Irish boned and rolled whole gammons available from 12 December.

Aldi say average weight 7kg. Price per kg E3.99 for unsmoked, E4.49 smoked. That would make them about E28 for unsmoked and E31 smoked.

I'm assuming the ones you bought were boned and rolled. I suppose bone weighs a bit but does add flavour.

it would have been a whole ham. last year aldi had boned and rolled but from memory they were much smaller than 7kg. havent seen their xmas brochure this year though

Seems aldi's are priced per kg so price will vary but they do say average 7kg in brochure. We'll see!

aldi will be random weight whereas tesco and dunnes will have fixed weight. sometimes you will be better off getting the fixed weight because manufacturers use a catch weight system so it is often over the weight specified on the pack
