Cost of fitting 4 wheels

    Hi folks,

I have 4 secondhand 15" wheels being delivered from the UK tomorrow.

I'm just wondering how much I should expect to pay for a garage/tyre centre to fit, balance and align them. The Tires are good on them so they won't need to be replaced.

    All estimates greatly appreciated.

I paid 50 on Friday to fit 4 winter tires. Was quoted between 40 and 100 for the job.

Were these just bare tyres or did you have them on wheels before you went in?

Wheels arriving with or without tyres?
Changing the wheels only take 5 minutes to do yourself...

If you're changing tyres from your current wheels to the new ones and having them balanced, then €50 sounds about right.

    Alignment €25-40
    Balancing €5-10 per tyre
Fitting free if you do it yourself, otherwise depends on the fitter.

Wheels are arriving with tyres and I'd have no problem fitting them it's just to get them tracked, balanced and aligned.

I imagine if I'm getting the above done it'd be just as easy to get them to put on the new wheels while they're doing it

Well they need to be on the car to be tracked and aligned so...
Would they not com balanced? If not I can't imagine that'll cost much, tracking will have to be done elsewhere though, don't think I've been in a tyre shop that do tracking. That'll be €50 anyway.

Tracking and aligning are the same process, balancing is only necessary if they weren't balanced when the tyres were fitted.
If your wheels are not substantially different sizes to the new ones then the tracking should be the same.

I'd stick them on myself, same as changing a puncture x 4 TBH and good practice.
Should take you about 30 mins max

Ya, I might just do that alright, they could be balanced when they come but they are 2" bigger than stock, would that affect tracking

Some tyre service garages do not do camber adjustments (I don't know any that does it), which is painful and pointless to start with.

Yes, 2" is a big difference. I assume you are in Cork by your username?
If you are close to Bantry, Bantry tyre centre does 4 wheel laser alignment, I had mine done recently by them and was very pleased with the job.
There is a garage in Ballincollig as well that is recommended but I don't know the name

Yes, i'm living out near blarney at the moment, I usually go to dessie's tyres in blackpool, never had any problems with them

Would the increase in wheel size make such a drastic differance to tracking/handling

My Basic idea now would be to take off the 13s and put on the 15s tmrw and see how it drives for the week, is this the best plan?

    I'd go with that plan.
Changing wheel size by 2" will change a lot of things in the geometry, so I would advise getting them setup properly on a 4 wheel system.
