No charges for 9 month pregnant woman who hit belly with hammer

    First we had:
Spitfire baby: One-year-old can walk, talk, use a laptop

He was nicknamed ‘Spitfire baby’ after he shot into the world after a five-minute delivery and on the brink of his first birthday, little Jonathon Thorpe shows no signs of slowing down. His mother has revealed he can already walk, talk, use a laptop and dance Gangnam Style.

After only five minutes of labour he arrived ‘like a little Spitfire’ at their family home in Birmingham, 10 days early and weighing 5lbs 7oz.

According to Heather, he was walking and talking at seven months and soon mastered the TV remote, laptop – and the moves to Psy’s viral hit.

The 24-year-old said: He’s intelligent, strong and clever. We can’t quite believe how quickly he’s progressed. He was already calling me “mummy” by seven months and he’s very chatty now.’

She added: ‘It’s been a year to remember with him. Even without giving birth in five minutes, he’s been full of surprises and done everything in a hurry.

‘He has the mind of a two-year-old and we all have a job keeping up with him.’

Jonathan, an avid Superman fan, will celebrate his first birthday watching an episode of Jeremy Kyle – his favourite show – and with a Mickey Mouse cake.

    But then:
Pregnant woman caught on camera 'hitting her belly with a hammer after boasting her baby is hard'

A heavily pregnant woman was caught on camera apparently hitting her belly with a claw hammer while boasting how 'hard' her baby is.

Heather Thorpe, 24, was filmed allegedly performing the outrageous act just weeks before she gave birth to her son, Jonathon.

Today, her former partner Sean Hanlon, 26, released the footage taken last year on his Galaxy S3 in his living room as police revealed they have refused to press charges.

Critics are now calling for answers from the local authority about why the case was thrown out.

Sean, from Chelmsley Wood in Birmingham, said: 'It is mad. She should have been locked up and that baby should have been taken off her as soon as it was born. He's not safe with her.

'I don't know why they didn't press charges. It's just obvious to me.

'I showed them the video on December 19.

'I had to film it or no one would have believed me. I probably would have got blamed for it if anything happened to the baby.

'We were together about a year. I don't know if the baby is mine but I wanted to try to stop her hitting her belly.

    'She was out of control.

'There is no point me taking it any further with the police.

Social services aren't involved at all - they go round all the time but she can put on an act and they would never know what she is like.'

Heather Thorpe's family refused to comment on the allegations.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police told MailOnline: 'A report was received in December 2012 from a member of the public regarding video footage of a pregnant woman self-harming.

'A thorough investigation was undertaken and no criminal offences were found.

'The matter was referred to the local child services.'

Last year, Ms Thorpe made headlines when she claimed to have given birth after just five minutes of labour in her parents' living room.

I find it unfathomable that social services at least have not issued this woman with a warning let alone one receive one from the police. It's disgraceful and if any harm does come to him down the line, and I obviously hope it doesn't, then any of these people who decided no action needed to have been taken, will rue the fcuking day.

The video is quite shocking (or at least I found it to be) and so I'd advise not watching it if your anyway sensitive to such things but for those who still wish to see it, it can be seen in the link to the second article above or on YouTube here.

This is the one who was claiming how her son was a genius last week?

She looks like she needs to be in a mental institute.

So what your saying is, pregnant women should hit their bellies with hammers to make super babies?

How on Earth can something like that not be grounds enough for taking the child from her? If she done **** like that before it was even delivered can you imagine how she'll treat it when it's not actually inside of her? =/

The guy was right to record it, and what he says is absolutely true. If he had just reported it and she blamed him instead then who do you think the police would believe?

Maybe she was hoping it be Thor...

I haven't seen the video but wouldn't you really need to wallop it to hurt it? Tapping a hammer wouldn't hurt it. It wouldn't even lightly bruise the woman.

Edit to say I just watched it and can't tell how hard she was hitting the bump.

Absolutely and also, had he did the same thing with the hammer, to her, and someone recorded it, can you imagine what the headlines about a man hitting a nine month pregnant woman in the stomach with a hammer would have been like? Especially one who was saying that he was doing it to: "see how hard the baby was".

BBC, ITN, Sky News etc would have been all over it without a doubt but for some reason, I don't think this was covered by any of them.
