Wondering what you all think is a realistic price for a 2007 Mazda 3 saloon.

It's that Mazda blue colour, just NCT'ed until 2015, 60k miles or so on it.

Family member is selling it and doesn't know how much to aim for, as Donedeal seems all over the place on them price wise!

Would probably need a bit more information on it really.

Petrol or diesel? It would seem that low capacity diesels are selling like hot cakes these times, the world and his wife want one. Not much of a market out there for larger engined petrols it would seem. Nobody or very few seem to want them. You may have better chance of shifting a 1.4 litre petrol than a 1.8 or even a 1.6.

Is there a 2 year nct on it. If not and as you say it was just NCT'd why was it not NCT'd on time. I'm only asking as a potential customer may ask and make an issue about it.

60k miles pretty low in fairness. That would work out at circa 9k miles per annum if my calculations are close to the mark. Are there any marks on it or any issues worth noting. Not entirely sure what mazda blue is and not sure the colour would make a terrible difference on a car like that unless it was a completely garish colour altogether.

As a general rule I would advise to do a search for similar mazdas on donedeal and price it at the lower end of that. The result you might get may seem harsh but in my opinion its the way to go if your serious about selling the car. Otherwise you may end up with the car sitting on your driveway and the market ends up overtaking you on the way down

    Not me selling it thankfully.

And woops, thought I had said what it was...it's a 1.6 auto petrol. Car is clean marks wise, no issues mechanically. She's the type to drop it into the main dealer every couple of months to get it 'fixed' and spend hundreds of euro when the garage finds things to 'fix'.

Donedeal is widely varying on the prices of these, I'll link one or two comparable ones shortly, when im off work!

On the face of it I would think the 1.4 litre is probably that bit more in demand than the 1.6 litre....some call it a mad situation but I can see the other side of the coin where its forced upon us by silly motor tax rates and insurance premiums for younger/ inexperienced drivers also. Overall the diesels are probably better sellers than the petrols also I would suggest. I would suggest the manual is most likely that bit more in demand than an auto box so on the face of it she will most likely struggle to sell and may have to price it accordingly.

Then again you had never know. If the 1.6 auto Mazda 3's are really really thin on the ground there may be a fan out there looking for that exact model in which case its her lucky day. I wouldn't count my chicken though. The Mazda is probably that bit more of a consumer product than a Alfa Romeo or Mercedes for example, which may have more of a niche market. What I'm trying to say is the Mazda to most people will be very inter-changeable with a Corolla/ Focus/ equivalent Hyundai etc etc.

I would suggest that she prices it at the lower end of the market on donedeal if shes serious about selling it. You may say what about there being quite a few similar models being priced at over a grand more on donedeal but they're not selling.

If she took it to the main dealer every couple of months as you say she should have a service history which should help sell the car. Tell her to make reference to that in the ad when shes drafting it. Even to throw up a snap or 2 of the documentation. I for one think its great to see that in an ad and it just seems to scream of an owner who is thorough about maintaining their car
