Pulled Muscle?

    Hey
    Looking for some advice...

Was in the gym earlier doing tricep dips and on my last one, i felt something 'pop' in my chest - felt like id pulled a muscle or something. Took a short break and the pain went away, so decided to finish my routine.

Anyway, i was ok doing bicep curls, press ups, planks, etc afterwards but when i got to tricep dips again, on the 1st one i got a really sharp (and bloody sore!) pain in the middle of my chest again so just gave the rest of them a miss!

Just wondering what muscle would I have pulled? (I'm a bit of a newbie to the gym so not sure what i could have done thats only sore when i try to do tricep dips!)

Whats the best way to treat this? Heat / cool gels or something else?
Should i take a break from the gym for a few days, or go and just do what i can? (Don't really want to take a break because I've lost 6.5 st over the last 6 months and want that to continue!)

    Any advice would be great...

Firstly, go to get it seen to by a professional. But it might be a bit of cartilage damage around the sternum from form that's a bit off or it could just be a bit of damage to the pec. Either way, don't go doing dips again 'til you've been to see someone and when you do go back to them, make sure your form is spot on. Oh, and well done with your progress so far. Brilliant work!

Give it a few days and just work around it! If you where to seek a professional every time you got a small Muscle pull you'd be fair broke after a few months id imagine!
Time is a great healer and most SP'S will prescribe rest for a hell of a lot of injuries!
