    Hi

Do these brake pads and discs look like they need to be replaced? They do squeak a bit while braking. I am unsure as to when they were last changed as I only bought the car a few weeks ago.

I hope the pics are okay

    Thanks

First two pads look alright for a bit. Discs are fine.

New pads and discs in the second two.

Fair bit of wear left on the pads but in the last picture it looks as if the pad backing plate is very close to rubbing on the disc. It may be only the angle of photo but if that is the case, it would suggest alot of Wear on disc and would need replacement.

Easier than I thought, just stuck my phone between the allows and took 4-5 pics and hoped for the best.

Some conflicting answers on the thread, I suppose it's best to get them done if in doubt, not sure how much it'll set me back though.

If you're not sure, why dont you get a haynes manual, measure the thickness it specifies for the discs and pads, the first ones look like they have a lot left in them, the second pics maybe pads could be done, have changed pads with less.

I cant see how anyone can really say about the discs, cant really tell from that close, to me, the first few look pretty smooth, the later two look a bit scored, but dont think any need doing.

Are there any vibrations on braking?

No, there are no vibrations when I brake at all.

There is just a small squeaking noise when I brake

one set of pads, costing between 25 and 30 euro? basic tools, and a good big G clamp to wind back in the caliper pistons.

It'll be a mechanic fixing them up, I have zero tools or mechanical ability.

The last picture shows a large lip on the disc. This indicates a lot of wear.

    Fit new discs and pads.

Discs and pads are very cheap for these, you should be able to get the whole lot done for around €150.

In the last pic. The steel backing of the pad is contacting the disc. That is why it is squeaking. The discs are so worn that the pads haven't even come to the end of their life before there is metal on metal contact. It is an immediate NCT fail. You need to change both discs and pads.

so it is, didnt see that, aren't the pads still viable?
the inner and outer sides seem to be worn differently though, if they are as easy to change as the discs on a fiesta be done in in less than half an hour,

No they are not viable, the steel backing and steel disc will not wear the same as the pad, and so they will become the first point of contact when the brakes are pressed, there for they will absorb pressure away from when it would normally be pressed against the disc/pad material, therefor braking effort is greatly reduced.
