I just read about this idea and thought it would be worth a share.

Bubble wrap apparently is an excellent insulator for windows. Larger bubbles are best. Spray water on the window and stick the bubble wrap on, bubbles first. Handy for cold rooms or single glaze windows. People use it sometimes for greenhouses, but hey, if it can save money and heat in the house it should be worth a shot. I gonna try it anyway on rear windows. :)

I think my temptation to bust the bubbles world kill any gain of heat loss. ;)
