Took off my back wheel, opened up the brake lever.
Removed (crap) worn shimano brake pads and fitted new green swisstop brake pads.
Tried to put the wheel back on, but the tyre (Conti 4000s 23mm)won't fit past the new swisstop brake pads.
Is it the case that there are certain width brake pads which only fit certain calipers? (105 calipers).
I definitely put the left and right on the correct sides/ facing forward etc.

and now I can't take out the swisstop brake pads, because the 2mm tool I used to tighten the screw that holds the pad, is just going round and round and not getting any grip - it's a brand new screw that's lost its shape already.
Doing your own bike maintenance is maddening.

Let the air out and you'll get the tyre past the new pads.

thanks, I did, the rims alone won't even fit past the brake pads.
I got a set of 4 brake pads, the 2 that remain have different numbers on the back.
    The right is 10,11,12,13,14,24
The left is same but ending in a 15.
Don't know if that refers to which should have been put on front and back brakes?
Going to have to leave it, I'm up early for a flight so will ask in a bike shop over the wknd.

Ha, funny. Just sat down after changing the pads on my road bike for the morning.
Anyway I reckon the cable is too tight, you will have to readjust the length of it to match the new pads.
That said if you lat the air out and that works then it's all disco....

Thankyou - that's done the trick, that's all it was.

Yep thats it, you'll need to tighten them in again as the break pads wear down.
