Commercial car van here. Tax expires at the end of this month and the CRVT (DOE) expires in late December. Can I book it in early for the test? Is if forward dated from the day it expires? I cant tax it as there is not enough test remaining..

They aren't forward dating the CVRT like the NCT as far as I know.

Are you sure you can't tax it? I taxed one of our vans for a year last month even though the test runs out this month.

Just talking to our commerical specialist here.

He thinks the CRVT can be done early, and the expiry date will be 1 year from the expiry date of the current DOE Cert.

Once you have a valid CRVT, you will be able to tax using the on-line system as long as there is a valid CRVT cert on file, on the day you apply for tax, rather than the current system where the DOE needs to be valid on the day the tax takes effect (and for a few weeks after that).

Cheers lads. I might try for 3 months tax and see what happens but I'm sure when I tried last year they refused to tax it.
