Parking Ticket Fine

I was in doing some work in a local pub today, and was told by the owner it was fine to park outside without a Pay-and-Display ticket. I asked the other lad that park there, without a pay-and-display and he said it was fine also. He parks there everyday.
I finished off what needed to be done inside an hour, and went to leave, only to find a €60 ticket on my windscreen.
Is it worth appealing it, as I was parked right outside where I was working (Also the owners house above the pub) or will I just fork over the cash?

Appears that it wasn't alright to park there after all :)

I can't see how you can defend this if you parked in a pay and display area and didn't pay and display.

Assuming there were signs up to tell you the conditions of the parking then I really dont see how you have a case. "The bloke in the pub said it was grand" really isnt going to go down too well Im afraid!

Never believe what a man in a pub tells you.

Your only appeal is to the owner that his lies cost you €60. If he doesn't offer some money can you ad a charge for something that costs €60? In some places the parking attend knows the people who work there and let them away, bottle of whiskey or 2 at Christmas, and ticket unknown cars in the same spot.

Bollocks! Thought I was going to get away with it. Oh well, I'll pop down tomorrow and pay it :(
Nah, nothing I could really add on to charge the €60 unfortunately - and I'd rather not lose the steady stream of work I get from there. Although it'll be the last time I take the time to drop in to set everything up for him!

In fairness, it's not his fault either. How could he know whether or not the warden was going to be around?

When I asked, I assumed he would take into account the warden coming around. If I thought he was just chancing it and guessing he wouldn't come around, I would have paid it.
Not completely his fault, but the majority of the blame should definitely fall on him. Not that it's in any way relevant now.
In fairness, he's a nice guy, and gives me good pay for the work I do.
I can't complain too much. I've no problem paying the fine, and leaving it at that.

I parked alongside the Wilton bar a while ago and while purchasing a ticket from the machine a guy working in the pub shouted over that I did not need one so I didn't bother.

I returned later to find a NCPS clamp on the car and of course arsehole in the pub denied telling me anything. .

Of course he was chancing it, sure there's no way that he could have been sure.

Without meaning to make you feel worse, your mistake was believing other people rather than using your head. :)

You know what they say about assumptions, they are the mother of all feck ups. I'm afraid you will have to take it on the chin.

Wait for the reminder in the post. I got out of a ticket once because they had a slightly different time on the reminder compared to the actual ticket.
Another time, I got a ticket and the warden, under reg number had just put Black Audi so I didnt pay that. I figure it was only a warning.
Ive only ever got 3 parking tickets and that's 2 of them that were not correctly issued.

    Huh?

    I never take that risk,

What you could have done was bill him for the parking costs, one, two euro, whatever it was.

    I would reply saying that,

Also, I would ask them to send you the photo of your car (which I believe they are supposed to take when they fine you)
