Ah the things we do for mums...

So my mum has a favourite ornament,a crib, and she adores it. She got it a few years and it's the centre of Christmas in her house.

However there's one problem with it,it doesn't seem to be glazed at all. To the touch it feels like painted clay, something akin to sand paper. This would be fine except that dust gathers on it and it is very difficult to dust or clean. So I was wondering is there anywhere I could get it glazed for her? Something that would make it like more shiny delph so it would be dustable and ensure it wouldn't get too dusty/dirty with the passage of time. I know she'd consider it the perfect Christmas present if I could.
I know this because she told me. :)

Does anyone have any idea if it would be possible at all,or have any experience in this area?
Any advice at all would be very gratefully received.

Here is a pic of it incase you need a visual:

I wouldn't risk glazing and firing as it could possibly ruin it. Most DIY stores have a good range of spray on varnishes and finishes these days. A clear gloss varnish (spray on a light coat leave for at least 4 hours then add up to 3 more coats because of the detail, if you spray too much on it will run) would give you a more sealed shiny finish like delph. Or you can get a porcelain spray finish but think this would be liable to gather dust as well.
Or even using a paint on sealant would work. Just take your time and wait for it to dry properly before adding more coats.
