We are changing! So how does this affect learners and jobseekers?

FÁS has been dissolved. Training courses and services to learners will continue and certification of courses will not be affected.

For jobseekers and employers, the Department of Social Protection has already taken over responsibility from FÁS for Community Employment and Employment Services including: Advertise a job/Find a job (Jobs Ireland), jobseeking tools, national internship scheme (JobBridge), CE, Supported Employment, Job Initiative, Jobs Clubs, LES offices, Employment Services offices. Queries relating to these initiatives should be directed to the Department of Social Protection's offices, contact details are available on www.welfare.ie Its new Intreo offices are now the first point of contact for jobseekers and are the gateway for unemployed learners seeking training, funding for training and supports.

Education & Training Boards will take over responsibility for the management of training delivery. The phased transfer of FÁS Centres and related training activity to Education & Training Boards will be completed during 2014. This will include Contracted Training and funding for Community Training Centres, Local Training Initiatives and Specialist Training Provision. Training will continue as normal and learners will not be affected by this change. Until the transfer process is complete, SOLAS will manage training on a temporary basis.

As the Education & Training Boards take over the management of training delivery, SOLAS will focus all its energy on planning, funding and driving the development of a learner focused integrated Further Education and Training service. For more information, see www.solas.ie/.

Think both Fás & Solas websites were down this morning.

The train the trainer course is gone from the end of December, so if you want one you will have to go privately before then. Try somewhere like the open college.

Where did that name come from 'train the trainer' seems so old fashioned, why not call it 'Become a Tutor' course.

    Hi All,
I finally started to figure out that the FAS/Solas version of the course is called training and development. Its on 1 night a week for 40 weeks. So It starts in Jan and be finished in November. Im at the moment going for a few adult education type jobs, so say they were to give me the job based on me doing this course, if I take up the job/work can I still attend the course for free?
