Flush doesn't work , help needed & pics included

    Hi , hope someone can help me here . I have a push button flush and the cable came away from the lid of the cistern, pics below ,
    Can someone advise me on how to get that cable back into the plastic bit so the flush will work again using the button .
    I've been trying for the last 2 hours and my head is wrecked from it . I'm afraid it's beating me into submission . Would a plumbing centre have the parts I need if it's a matter of replacing something without too much cost.
    Or better still if someone can give me instruction to get that cable back working
