    Hi all,

    I'm currently driving a 330d E90 M Sport with 18" wheels (runflats).

The rears (255/35/18) will soon need changing, the fronts will be fine for a while yet.

Any recommendations for tyres of this size? To what extent can the size vary from 255/35?

I am thinking I will ultimately change from RFTs to standard tyres, which are cheaper and more comfortable, but I understand that you can't mix between axles. In this case I guess fitting RFTs on the rear and then changing all 4 to standard tyres next time round would be the way to go?

    Thanks

You could always buy 4 non runflats and sell the front runflats that still have decent thread on them. Runflats in 255/35/R18 are silly money as I had them on my old E90.

This what I replaced my runflats with on my E90 M Sport:

Great tyre with excellent grip in both the dry and wet having a unique thread pattern, with a low profile of 35 though the walls are very fragile to kerbing. I'd still highly recommend them.

Yeah replacement runflats are silly money alright, I've been quoted €300 and €365/corner in 2 places.

I'll have to decide what to go with should I ditch the runflats, I've heard good things about those Vredsteins before, thanks.

Is there much market for part worn runflats? I'd hardly be getting much for them would I?

Probably not worth a whole lot but you never know. You could always hold onto them if you have the space and stick them back on when you sell the car.

Don't mix runflats and conventional tyres at all. There was a lad on a few months ago who did that on his Beemer and turned it into a pogo stick.
Do change to normal tyres though - they make a huge difference - at least on a 5 series.
