Not been before but I assume they will have a similar set up as last time with regards to "luxury" camping? Husband and I really want to go as it seems very much our kind of scene/people, however I wouldnt want to just camp in a tent surrounded by younger/louder people (I'm a bit of a pansy :o)

Do they have a "quiet" field? Would the yurts & tipi's have generally a more quieter/mature vibe?

    Maya Jane Coles for sure.

Ticket prices gone up again and the festival is on a downward slide.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

will try pick them up while they're less than €100 and then decide to go closer the time based on the lineup.
the festival was pretty poor last year, probably the worst of all the ones i went to, so have little interest in going back just for the "experience". would be perfectly ok with a poor lineup and putting the money towards various other festivals tbh.

I disagree ..... definitely one of the highlights of the year last year. I go for the atmosphere not the line ups and it was as good as ever!

I'll probably get on this. Hopefully they revise their mental drinks policy from last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,621 ✭✭✭Ferris_Bueller

What was their mental drinks policy from last year? Haven't been before but considering going this year, can anyone tell me a little bit about it? Pros/cons? Is it all bands, or will there be a range of acts? Saw last summer George Fitzgerald played, a few dance acts like that could be good to break up the weekend between bands/DJs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 153 ✭✭Uaru

You could only bring 24 cans. No more and they had to come in on your first entry to the campsite. On the Friday night they wouldn't let anyone bring cans in to the venue part even after the bars had closed. There was also some general dickheadish behaviour out of security throughout the weekend.

    Otherwise it was great craic.

Last year was my third time there and i promised myself it would be my last after the carry on with the drink and security. Even putting that aside, I know its all subjective and i hate people who come out with the classic "its not as good as it used to be" but thats what i found. So i guess i am one of those people now :pac:

These all gone? I presumed from reading the OP that all 5 tiers would be available today, seems not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,463 ✭✭✭loveisdivine

Once the first tier sells out, the second tier will then become available and so on until its sold out. I was looking an hour ago and they still had the first tier available.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,551 ✭✭✭Eroticplants

Missed the first tier, disgusted. Still, I just bought second tier tickets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,294 ✭✭✭rainbowdrop

I wonder how many are in each tier? Does'nt seem to be a huuge amount of interest (going by likes/comments) on the facebook page, yet tier 1 sold out within a couple of hours...

Maybe they don't have very many tickets in the first few tiers; so people end up paying more for the higher tiers?

Still great value for money whatever price you pay, despite all the giving out people did after last year, I still say its the best festival I went to in 2013!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Missed last year, but I'd been to the previous three. Wasn't it €149 last summer? Sounds like quite a lot. I remember when it was €99 and there was no scummy €6.50 ticketmaster charge, it's just not as good as it used to be you know...

Bought a tier 2 ticket. From previous experience I always end up wanting to go to these things at the last minute and end up forking out when I could have just got myself and early bird ticket months before. If I don't want to go in the end I'm sure I can sell the ticket without making a loss.

They replied to someone on Facebook saying they might give away a few names in Feb but they never really announce it until March.
Kill me. I'm hoping for Cat Power and the original Sugababes line-up.

Is there any music on the Friday, and what time if so? May book the day off work and head down early.

Yes the Midnight Circus Tent was open in Friday last year and a few of the cafe stages in that area as well as most of woods area, the only place not opened in Friday is the Body & Soul main stage. Music kicks off at 6pm Friday evening.

I think this guy would be perfect for the Midnight Circus tent this year, Gesaffelstein, fits that bill like Jon Hopkins, Panthu Du Prince.

Hopefully the drinks company sponsors wont have as much say in the allowed amount of drink for the campsite this year.
And hopefully they will allow re-entry

Can't find a price for these tickets or else they seem very cheap. €70 for a weekend camping ticket? Is that right?

sorry, scratch that, found them on the website. Ticketmaster just said €70 which has confused me.

Saw Goldfrapp at Oxegen (the only reason I went) and then at the Olympia a few months later. One of my favourite performers.

It's a very exciting line up, with so much more to come. Very glad I invested in Early Birds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 958 ✭✭✭grudgehugger

Some great acts there - have seen a fair few of them before but looking forward to seeing them again.

Jon Hopkins @ BnS was a real highlight of last year overall for me so really looking forward to seeing him again. Caribou, Mount Kimbie and Darkside all great bookings as well.

Now can someone remind them to book some decent weather for a change as well?

I know the website states "no gazebos", but just wondering how strictly this is enforced, I've seen gazebos up at plenty of other festivals that had this rule and it didn't matter.
Has anyone seen or had a gazebo up in previous years?

Hopefully the drinks company sponsors wont have as much say in the allowed amount of drink for the campsite this year.
And hopefully they will allow re-entry

no such luck, same nonsense as last year:

    http://bodyandsoul.ie/wp_super_faq/can-i-bring-alcohol/
24 cans of beer / lager / cider

    OR

4 bottles white or red wine/prosecco (decanted into a plastic bottle – NO GLASS)
    OR
1 litre spirits (decanted into a plastic bottle – NO GLASS)
Please note, searches will be undertaken upon entry to ensure this is complied with and any alcohol above this allocation will be confiscated. You may only bring your alcohol allocation into the festival upon first entry at the wristband check. If you leave the festival, alcohol will not be permitted on re-entry.

Into Main Arena: From 11pm onwards festival goers can bring any liquids, alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages, into the main arena, but not beforehand. (No Glass Permitted)

Family Exception: Families entering at any time with sealed plastic bottles or cartons of water, milk, juice, etc for their children will be permitted. Last year a number of incidents were reported by families where security emptied children’s drinks which they should not have. This was due to a miscommunication with security – this year we will ensure that they are briefed fully. (No Glass)

There are free water points throughout the site. They will be positioned on the map prior to event.

No glass containers are permitted on site whatsoever but decanting services are available at the main entrance where 1 litre plastic bottles are available for €1.

i wonder if they'll be confiscating unopened soft drinks between the carpark and campsite on the Sunday again this year too

1L of spirits isn't enough to get anyone "obliterated" over 3 days.
you'd probably be under the drink-drive limit if you rationed it out evenly.

it's your opinion that it's "more than enough", i have friends who due to their height/weight, it's would barely effect them whatsoever.

anyway, my issue is more with the ludicrous "you have to bring all your drink in first time, you can't go out to the car and get more" nonsense.

other festivals don't need these bizarre drinks rules in place, why does B&S need to treat people like children?
why were people not allowed bring soft drinks into the campsite on the Sunday last year?

ok so, why not reduce it down to ~200ml of spirits that is acceptable for a man to drink over 3 days, and limit women to 140ml, if we're going to go pretend these limits are for health reasons?

again, not that i really care about the allowance limit, i'm still going to bring 24cans and smuggle some spirits, and i'm sure plenty of people will do the same.
people will still get hammered, be it with their own drink, or some they're forced to buy inside (no direction from drinkaware.ie on limits on buying from our sponsors  ). it's the "you're not allowed re-enter with alcohol/must bring it all on the first entry" part that is daft.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 337 ✭✭glorified g

Lovely lineup so far. Haven't been before and will probably head this year. The alcohol limit doesn't really bother me to much. What are the drink prices in the campsite/arena though? I assume the drinks sponsor will want to make a killing on people that run out early?

This. This was one of the reasons the festival fell down last year. It's ridiculous and another mood dampener (that and the fact this just isn't big enough a festival for three days)
