Looking to get a decent iTrip fm transmitter thing for my car,
got a new car the weekend and no aux input available.

Preferably want an iTrip that doesn't need to be powered off the cigarette charger.

    Any recommendations?

What's the car / radio head unit? Maybe we can recommend a proper device for your car that's not dependant on FM signal. Plenty of cheap Aux options.

It's 07 Opel astra gtc stock head unit, don't particularly want to change it.

The battery powered ones are shíte

I've had this once for a few years now and it works great:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BAND-NEW-Tunelink-FM-Radio-Transmitter-for-Android-and-Apple-iOS-Devices-/221217624757?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhonesCasesPouches&var=&hash=item33819912b5

    No additional wires.
Pairs up with Bluetooth when I get into the car.

    Works with iPhone and Android.
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=newpotato.tunelink
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tunelink/id400308800?mt=8

Also displays the current track on the Radio Display with RDS.

Theres an app which helps you pick the best frequency as well.

IMO it works best when set to mono, stereo is prone to interference.

Have the same problem in my Volvo .. stupid head unit has no aux in.

    I've driven from
    Eindhoven to Berlin
    Amsterdam to Freiburg
Eindhoven to Cork via Calais then Dover, onto Liverpool and down through Dublin, didn't have any problems either.

Any options for a 2006 Audi Concert stereo like this one? Aux or Bluetooth...I have a nokia car kit attached which mutes the stereo when a call comes in.

Wouldn't be hard .... would just need the key to remove the radio I would say.

Ah my missus have a 2009 GTC herself, there's an Aux In beside the handbrake / glovebox and you can just use a 3.5mm headphone to headphone cable to feed your music through the headunit via the CD / MP3 or source button.

What I bought for her was a Kensington LiquidAux device that plugs into the aux in and cigarette charger, lets you control and charge your iPod / iPhone via a remote that attachs to your door handle or steering wheel:

It should be right beside the back of the handbrake but my friends slightly older model had one in the bottom of the arm rest cubby in the centre console. All else fails, check your glove box too.

I'll have a proper root around later when I finish up, appreciate the help mate.

Can you post a pic of the head unit buttons and the model number is visible? Do you know the "trim" level of your car? My missus had the Design but another I was in was a normal GTC and had it also.

I'm very surprised if the SXi doesn't have one. Can you take a snap or show us an online picture of your head unit please?
