    hi all,

took my infant to waterbabies today mrs romper was taking photos of us with the 18-55 IS lens that came with my 1100d. however even thouh she was only 15m away, the zoom level if far too distant.

luckily xmas is coming up so she said she's get me a new lens. so the question is, whixh one? (budget 500e)

water babies take photos of your child underwater and sell them to you … I think the price is around €200 for the first image and €50 per image after that….are you sure it was water babies you were with as I'm pretty sure they don't allow pics taken at poolside….hence the reason why they have their own photographers….and use small pools and small groups (15m away is some distance)

also … being poolside will cause moisture in your camera and will break it. (water babies increase the water temp in pool so ambient temp in the room is above average also)

ps. the images they get underwater are easy enough to do - with the right equipment/knowledge.

as to waterbabies, sooner or later we will be migrating to the sea, so Mrs romper will be standing on the edge of the shore (in comparative dry) while we are paddling.

so really the question is, whats a good lens for 15m away with a 500e budget?

If you consider second hand then Canon 70-200 f/4 L goes for around 450e which in my opinion is a steal for such a great glass.
