Capital Gains Tax- Joint Assessment

Hi, My wife and I currently own shares (held in our own names). I need to sell some of mine and will realise a gain. She holds shares that are deeply in the red which she is also willing to sell.
Is it possible to offset my realised gains with her realised losses, thereby reducing our tax liability given (a) we are jointly assessed and (b) the shares are not jointly held?
Both of us have contacted revenue separately and have received conflicting responses, hence are very confused!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes you can offset one against the other as you can claim joint assessment.
