16 speed gearbox is much more reliable than 32 speed.

    95HP I believe

From what I've heard the 3085 is good bit ahead of it

We had one from 89 to 06.
The electronics are great (when they work) , which on a tractor of that age is going to be a problem.
The high low button on the gearstick is another problem.
Engine if looked after should be a cracker.

Good tractors had their reputation ruined by the disasterous and short lived 32 speed A+B box.Their wouldn't be too many of those left around nowadays though but i have seen the odd one crop up on DD to catch the unwary.
I'd be looking for a later 5 series with either a 16 speed or Dynashift box.
Great value tractors imo well able to take high hours.

Looks good ,The price is fairly steep, make sure the hand brake is working.
It probably needs Front mudguards ,those new tyres will cover the cab in sh.....t

id say shes a good one actually. seems whatever she needed she got.
she seems to have the 16 speed gearbox conversion which is the makings of them tractors. they cost over 3 grand and id say a lot of people are reluctant to spend that on them as they don't hold the value regardless.

Even look at the tyres. he seems to have bought good years which are nearly the best and dearest in the market. front tyres alone must be worth nearly €1500 if there good years

they are 105hp 6 cylinder and give it all at the pto id say. I was drawing bales with one against my 110-90 and it seemed to climb the hill faster so the hp must be there.

one tip: keep giving it tiny coats of oil to keep the rust away.

it is expensive but its really lacking nothing. even has a passenger seat. it work nearly be a shame to work that tractor.

I drove 240 miles to look at a car once, was driving down your mans lane going home and lad with me conviced me to go back and offer him another 50, before we left we were 300 out, so took his advice and lad was with me drove home the car, in my book distance should be no object if youre getting a good deal for your money

I have had a Massey Ferguson 3095 since 2001, been a very reliable unit, has 9000 hrs on it, no gearbox issues, Data tronic version with the creeper box. I have snapped the handbrake cable ordered a new one, however on installing the new one, The handbrake is at maximum adjustment and is not really working successfully, have to pull it up tight to get any handbrake action. Is there another adjustment available to fix this or is it a full overhaul of the handbrake internal assembly ?
