Hi jimfish and welcome, The only thing I have heard is they don't like running out of fuel as it can offset the float in the carb and fowl up the jets with any dirt in the bottom of the tank.

Sorry yes I was just talking about the 15 hp in general with the carb one it can cause problems with the float and with the EFI problems with the injection jets when they run out of fuel.
What sort of problems are you hearing are they fuel related, I think the Yanks had some problems with additives in their fuel clogging up the jets but I think our fuel is ok.

There seems to be a problem with the electric start, especially on the 20hp model, also I think fuel pump. After that I am not sure??

If it's going fine, then i wouldn't worry about it one bit.
If you're worried about what may happen then best thing to do is trade it in for another make/model outboard.
Is it really worth bothering yourself about something that might not happen?

there's always someone who knows someone, who knows someone that had a problem after problem with that same engine and will never again buy another yamaha/suzuki/johnson/evinrude/honda/parsun/wind/seagull etc etc..
Everyone has ran into one of these guys at some stage....

if it isn't broke then don't worry about it, just start it up and go boating.
