There's a review in this month's Cycling Plus which is generally positive, seems like it's a decent frame with budget components, so upgradeable as funds allow.

Thanks Nilhg, that what I was thinking, junk the sora parts after a while an upgrade later,, hmmm

Can you stretch your budget at all?

Have you looked at Planet X, Ribble etc. . I think there's better value out there than this bike.

Planet X Pro Carbon with Ultegra, I think it may be cheaper to order from the UK:

    http://planetxireland.com/products-page/road/pro-carbon-ultegra-pre-order/

Take your pick of the Ribble Carbon bikes:

    http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/bbg/road-track-bike/ribble-carbon-road-bikes?sub=conf_BBRC&type=RIBMO

I have a bit of a gra for the R872, it's a fine looking bike.

By all accounts the r872 is the same frame as the DeRosa r838 which is a lovely bike that a club mate has. The ribble Evo pro carbon is cheaper and I have built up as a winter/ spare bike and is excellent. Bear in mind they are sloping frames so 56cm size in the Evo is like a 60cm in a horizontal top tube frame. The ribble Evo pro carbon is the same as the Planet X pro carbon!
Mekk bikes are a uk brand and will likely have a marketing budget with cycling plus etc so bear that in mind when reading their reviews.

The Btwin FC-3 is going for £850 or 1014euro on decathlons website at the moment. It's got a full tiagra groupset and chainset.

Decathlon are essentially IKEA for sporting goods, their products are generally excellent value at the pricepoint.

Like with IkEA when you buy their more expensive ranges you're generally getting a very good product. They make their money on economies of scale and their bikes tend to be well regarded.

I'm not really with you here? Are you saying that you think its too good an offer to be true? If so I think rollingscone's post answer's that query.
The Planet x pro carbon Ultegra is available on their website for 999sterling so I don't think decathlon are breaking any milestones here. Its just horses for courses really technology is just trickling down the price scale as it always will do!. At your budget it pretty much comes down to the groupset....sora, tiagra or ultegra?
Claud butler do a range of full carbon bikes, the strada and the torino are the two names that come to mind just not so sure on prices.

    Hiya, Still looking M8,

Xplanet stuff is to far Away, and unless Im over that direction I would make a effort to drop into Athlone,,

Have been speaking with the guys in cycle super Store, and will be there this Sunday to see how much they will
offer me for my old bike(which I bought there last year) and its its not enough I will be selling here and on adverts, as need to get as much as I can for it, have saved a lot myself so, what I might end up doing is paying and getting the other half on the bike to Work
If Im allowed,, Its down to two or three Bikes, a Cube a Giant and possible a Lapierre, As much As I would like to get online
I would perfer to try the bike first

Also now the 2014 Cannondales etc are out the prices are dropping for the 2013 bikes, so who knows what will happen on sunday
Fingers crossed I get a good deal anyway
