Want to get someone to drop and clean sump on Saab 95. Can do it myself but wouldn't mind finding someone reliable to do it if I can afford it. CD Motors obviously know their stuff and mentioned 550 plus tax which included sorting rocker cover area and checking timing chain as well, but I just can't afford that. Is that price standard fare?

Had CD autos do this for my '98 95 last year, money well spent. Do all other work on my car. Any one else (including a SAAB Dealer) has messed up the work they've done. I trust no else to work on the 95.

Thanks. They really did seem like they'd be great to deal with and thorough, I just can't afford the work no matter how great it is tbh.

Rang Dara, much cheaper and feel it makes sense to go to him as experienced and will do a run through of the whole engine. Best thing to do with new purchase I guess.

    Thanks for the recommendation Brendan.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

    mentioned 550 plus tax

€625 is crazy for preventative maintenance (that might not even be needed) on a car worth €2000 at best imho

When I bought my 9-5 I toyed with the idea of getting the sump dropped, someone at the time mentioned a Saab indy in Clontarf who would do it for about €150 incl oil + filter change (obviously :D)

    Don't have any details, sorry!

I'll try to see if my google-fu brings anything up.

Oh and you might be interested why I decided against spending money on the sump drop. Bought my car for €1,350 and from following up the service history, I was convinced that from at least 2 years before I bought it, the correct fully synth oil was used and the oil services were reasonably frequent. Changed the oil myself every year / 5k miles and sold the car 2 years later when it was 12.5 years old. I had no sump issues during my ownership :)

Makes sense, but I don't have a documented history and the car is due a service anyway.

Clontarf area would be CD though they're actually in fairview. I've found their prices a little onthe high side but for good work

I did wonder but there's a huge disparity between what unkel mentioned and what I was quoted.
