Tablets in the classroom

    Hi,

Quick query. I'm hoping for some informed opinions. My school is looking for the best way to introduce tablets etc into the classroom for students.

They want to know what is the best way to go about it (in terms of educational benefit and cost effectiveness) and what are the potential pitfalls/mistakes that can be made.

    Questions that have arisen are,

Is it best to go with an android device or iPad.
Is it best to trial the idea with one class to be begin with? (presumably it is and presumably juniors/TYs)
Anyone know of schools thats are successfully using them day in day out (while still doing written work as after all their exams are written) and what effect did they think it had on grades
    Any schools have negative experiences
What kind of glitches etc arose?
Do they use a main educational software supplier for ebooks or just use free online resources?
What do teachers think of them?...have they helped or hindered with discipline/academic work etc
How is damage caused to the devices paid for/taken care of

So would anyone here be able to help or even direct me to where I might go about getting some information on this.

    Any help appreciated
