So today's my birthday, ripe ol age of 22. Girlfriends cooking 3 course mystery meal, as I type and friends be over later for drinks. Suits me down to the ground after a tough week. What's your ideal Birthday routine?

Just so everyone feels old, when the OP was born, these are the songs that were in the charts:
    1. (Everything I Do) I Do It for You, Bryan Adams
    2. I Wanna Sex You Up, Color Me Badd
    3. Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now), C+C Music Factory
    4. Unbelievable, EMF
    5. More Than Words, Extreme
    6. Justify My Love, Madonna
    7. I've Been Thinking About You, Londonbeat
    8. Losing My Religion, R.E.M.
    9. Summertime, D.J. Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince
    10. Wind of Change, Scorpions
    11. Things That Make You Go Hmmmm...., C+C Music Factory
    12. I Touch Myself, Divinyls
    13. Can't Stop This Thing We Started, Bryan Adams
    14. 3 A.M. Eternal, The KLF
    15. Now That We Found Love, Heavy D. and The Boyz
    16. Crazy, Seal
    17. Wicked Game, Chris Issak
    18. Get Here, Oleta Adams
    19. All This Time, Sting
    20. Shiny Happy People, R.E.M.

Incidentally OP, as songs 2 and 3 were out during Jan/Feb of '91, you may not be here but for them.

Not to alarm you, OP, but life sorta goes downhill passed 22.

I was 40 last January. I refused to celebrate it, just got all weird and arsey about it and insisted on spending most of the day on my own, not like I was a diva or anything about it:D I didn't handle it well:D Usually I prefer to spend the day with my husband, we get champagne and order birthday cakes for each others birthdays. January is a crap month for birthdays, I always feel guilty since most people are broke after Christmas and it's just another expense.

    I generally don't do anything.

Few pints at the weekend with mates is typically it, although we do that most weekends anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,477 ✭✭✭Riddle101

I usually just ignore it and treat it as any other day. Except it comes with presents.

Turned 25 back in April and spent it getting drunk in a gay bar. Soon as the patrons found out it was my birthday, I didn't have to pay for a drink all night. Ended up getting hammered and singing kareoke with two drag queens. It was so much fun!
Hope to do the same again next year. :D
Alternatively if I can't get into The George, few beers and a nice spread would be nice. :)

My birthday is St Stephens Day, 25 this year. Hate it. Actually love going to the pub pretty much any time of the year except Paddys Day and my birthday.

My girlfriend used to dress up in suspenders and high heels and give me the works, but she's gone so no sex, no pub no fun :(

That is catch 22. After the age of 22 you have to decide whether it's worth continuing to live until you die.

I have a rule.... always take the day of my birthday off in work.

Turn the phone on silent, sleep in till I want, when I wake I just do things I enjoy, no chores, no little jobs or trips, maybe a round of golf if I do wake early but mainly its just me time :D then when I can be arsed ill probably answer the phone and go visit the other half for steak....

    You're very welcome.

Actually, in '91 I had just left school and was working in a local garage pumping petrol and all throughout that year, all I can remember is the following song being played on the radio NON-STOP (yet I don't think it did all that well in the charts).

Course, I did tend to be listening to club anthem stations at the time and so that might have had something to do with it.

I feel so old. Anyone gotta a DeLorean there not using?

Am I the only one that's doesn't give a fcuk about their birthday?

I pretend not to, but really I'd like someone to make a fuss of me and buy me a present, or take me out to dinner or something.

It was my birthday on Monday. My parents and one other friend remembered. I haven't celebrated my birthday for years. I say I don't care about it, but I do, really. I'd like someone special to remember and surprise me with something, even a bunch of flowers and a small present. (I don't expect a private jet to Paris or anything :) ) It's never happened. Sadly, the 'someone special' has never happened either.

So on Monday I took the day off work and spent it alone. I pottered around early on and watched Prometheus on DVD in the afternoon.

I know I shouldn't have to wait for someone else to organise my birthday plans for me, but it would be nice if, just once, someone....did.

Sounds like we have to sort something out here lads.

Whoops, your on chocolate. Don't eat it all.

    I'm on wine.

Lucyfur can get seeds and granola and then we can uninvite her.

    MickyDolnez for the magician.
