Ryanair fly to Oslo Rygge from Dublin. These NY flights originate from Oslo Gardmoen.

When you factor in flights to Oslo, costs of transferring across the city, no CBP pre-clearance and all the extra time. I'd sooner pay the extra few bob to fly from Dublin

Norwegian Also fly London Gatwick to New York but you dont get a free bag the flight from Oslo stops at London on its way to NYC

norwegian - is a lowcoster = no food, no bag, no seat allocation.
so, to add a full package will cost +50 Eur.

Won't catch me going to NY unless I can stay 7 nights+. Even I would try that without Checked luggage.

You can now book flights from Oslo to New York City from €258. Even though it's from Oslo, Ryanair regularly do €30 return flights so at €288 it's still a bargain.

Just thought I'd alert anyone who may want to book a flight to the Big Apple.

    MOD EDIT:

I'm restoring this deal, it is the cheapest way to fly to NYC I think. Don't let the neigh sayers bring you down :)

    €258 one-way??!!

Which would quickly blow away any savings you made and then some!

Not complaining about the deal, but just FYI for people thinking of doing this, Oslo is mad expensive.

A pint costs €13 there! MacDonalds meal the same.

    A hostel €50.

Bus between the two airports, €33 one way!

Beautiful country for hiking and the women are stunning, just don't offer to buy them a drink! :)

    Great deal, thanks OP

But just to be wary of flight times. They do a similar enough deal to Bangkok. Its only €200ish euro one way but the flight times dont match with the Dublin-Oslo leg so it needs an overnight.

    Just read the website:

"Since Norwegian is a low-cost carrier, theres only one cabin bag included.
If you want to take checked baggage with you, you have to pay an extra fee of €102 for a return flight."

That makes it €360 a flight (from Oslo) if you want checked baggage. I would have thought not many people would go to New York with hand luggage only? Maybe for a day or 2...

At the very least could the title of this thread be changed to include "from Oslo" to save people's time that aren't interested in flying to Olso first when going to New York.

plus extra for the ryanair flight
plus extra for ryanair checked in bag
plus 33 euro to get to to other airport in oslo each way
plus about 2 hours wasted going in the wrong direction each way
plus time wasted hanging around in oslo airports
plus if ryanair is delayed you miss the oslo flight and no refund
    plus...

plus it's €12 a pint over there! I go every couple of months with work. Most expensive place in the world.
plus it would take 2 trains to get to the other airport

So total cost of 2 flights is minimum of €420 (€360 + €60 both incl. baggage)

€66 total train fares for trips between Olso airports

    That makes it €488.

Where is the deal? I can see flights direct with United in January at €459 incl. of taxes and baggage - without, as previously pointed out:

the hours travelling both in flights in the wrong direction
the hours spent on trains between airports in both directions
no pre-clearance, risks of cancellations, delays etc.

Plus an overnight due to overlap between Ryanair and Norwegian.

No offence to OP but I don't see how this could be a bargain to anyone short of someone having a personal requirement to visit Oslo already.

And if it is to be a bargain, the least that should be done is posting as close to the actual total cost as possible, not just the cost of one element of the trip - otherwise I could post a bargain alerts of return flights to New York from Boston and just ignore all the other costs.

I don't want to sound negative about this, but I would be concerned that someone could jump on this "deal" and only realise afterwards all the hidden costs.
