    Folks,
20 of us heading away for 5/6 nights start of March, hoping to go to a European City... not too fussy, the main aim is a trip away with things to do.

Can anyone help at all, i'm getting nowhere with accommodation. Previously we stayed in villas (Spain) but we understand we'll have to rent a few apartments... ideally the bigger the apartments the better, we want to stay in a group.

Can anyone recommend anything or give pointers as to where to stay? We have a budget of 200euro per person total (inc. flights)

    I presume there's a typo there - 5-6 nights accommodation and flights for €200?

It was possible last year, we went to Barcelona and got a villa all for 200 per person

approaching this from looking first at prices, somewhere like Charleroi (Brussel south) could be a runner and seems to be one of the cheapest options.
flights are from 35 return in March with ryanair for say 6days over paddies weekend.
That leaves you with 165 for accomodation which is 27.50 per person per night or 55 per double room.
Theres 1* and 2* hotels which are well within that budget in Belgium and France, and I was even looking at a hotel for next month in Reims (north france but similar quiet enough region as south Belgium) for 25 per room per night, so 110 for 6nights and flights per person if you got a deal like that! Premier Classe or something that chain was called. Others would be Formule 1 and Ibis Budget, with Ibis budget even allowing a third person to share a room in a bunk arrangement. Those places arent luxory but they would be clean, have a flatscreen tv and free internet so grand enough at the same time.

If you stay in hotels you could move about a bit so see brussels and another nice place in Belgium. Hotels in Brussels are dear over the week but then for buttons at the weekend. Bruges, Antwerp and Ghent are beautiful cities all within an hour of Brussels which you could decide to overnight in or just do a day trip to.

hotels are for buttons there i'd agree and the craic is mighty with theres heaps of places nearby to sketch out less than an hours train ride away.

to be honest, its a fair wee spin to Berlin, but going direct to Berlin itsself might be worth investigating as its the sort of place you could easily spend 6 days in.

If you go to Berlin renting apartments can work out very cheaply. Last year we used this company - http://www.ota-berlin.de/english/locations . They own entire buildings so you could rent more than one apartment to accommodate your group - we stayed in Schonhauser Allee and it was great (and very reasonable pricewise).

A couple of years ago we stayed as a large family group in Prague, again renting apartments with this company - http://apartments-in-prague.org/ . We stayed in the Mala Strana area in the Vlasska Building (they have about seven apartments in this building). The company will also organise a shuttle to and from the airport if you want. The apartments were great and in a lovely area, and again worked out very reasonably.
