I'd say you'd have change out of €25 if you got a frozen turkey and slightly smaller ham from aldi. I don't think its worth paying the extra for fresh turkey unless you're going free range The veggies are going to be very cheap again near christmas and there's nothing nicer than home made stuffing (and its cheap!)

I would disagree, you can't beat a fresh turkey though I would happily eat a frozen one but fresh tastes much better.
Having said that, I wouldn't pay a fortune more for a fresh one.............

I got a frozen crown in Aldi last year for €7, sourced from Poland. Tasted grand and lasted the missus and I a week.

Both Lidl and Aldi are doing those crowns 2.4kg at the moment for €10.99, easy to cook, no big carcass in the fridge, turkey is ok for 1 maybe 2 days after that it's boring.

I think its a good deal. you'd spend over that on a meal for two in a restaurant.

Not in all SuperValus. Our local is running turkeys at half price. Down from €5.50 kg to €2.75 kg. So a 14 pound (6kg) turkey is costing us €16 or €17

They usually have 1/2 price ham fillets at christmas too
