I got this message from a friend of mine:

Hope all is well with you?
I know how busy you are, but wonder if you could help? However, just to say briefly that my cousin was involved in Typhoon Haiyan : Philippine on Sunday 10th of November. However she took a beating and i came out with broken ribs, a broken shoulder blade, cuts and gashes all over her body. I'm currently in Philippine, I have no access to a phone and can only communicate by email. I have spent all i have here, wondering if you can help me with $2,500, I promise to refund your money as soon as i get back home hopefully on Friday. please email back as soon as you get my message.

The reply to address is slightly different to hook the person in.
I replied and got details to do a Western Union transfer (of course)...

Anyway my question is, is there anything that can be done to reverse the sting as it were? I could get his IP address but even if I find out more would it be of any use?

Any other ideas? I have told the sender (who's mail was compromised) and it seems his contacts were deleted in bulk so that he could not send a message to warn his contacts of the scam.
