    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-12/ex-bank-executive-may-face-death-in-vietnam-fraud-trial.html
A Vietnam court will consider the death penalty for two former executives if they’re convicted in a $25 million fraud scheme, signaling an aggressive stance as leaders seek to clean up the banking system.

Death Penalty is extreme, but I would love some 'severe' form of action to be taken against our lot, and the rest of the country would too I imagine

By severe action I meant LONG jail sentences, punished to the full extent of OUR law.

I'm not condoning, promoting or celebrating the violence of the act.

Given the severity of the crime, why couldn't a citizen advocate the death penalty as a measured punitive action by the state? It's not as if the argument is in favor of vigilantism or ad-hoc violence. The Irish state has executed individuals in the past, it may do so in the future.

So now we're killing people for being bad at their jobs? We'll have half the country rounded up at that stage.

I would be in favour of making Ahern or his ilk who put the interests of themselves or their financiers ahead of those of the citizenry guilty of treason. While traditionally the death penalty would apply, I'd be looking for whatever the most cost-efficient means of dealing with these criminals. Whether that's a bullet to the back of the head in the courtyard of Collins Barracks or 20 years hard labour isn't of much concern to me once they're punished for their actions and their assets are liquidated.
