Can anyone help. My washing machine/dryer will now do anything. When I turn it on and chose a cycle it stops and clicks and does nothing. Clicks about 6-7 times.

I've uploaded the link here of what's happening.

Exactly the same as mine (It's even frustrating me now hearing them clicks again!)

Set it for drain only, if it pumps ok then check the wash motor brushes for wear, good possibility they are worn

I can't set it to any programme. Not even to the dryer settings! Every time I chose a programme it just clicks six times and does nothing. Any ideas?
I'm leaning towards a faulty pcb. Is that expensive?

    does the door lock?

    Yeah,
Sometimes it locks and I can't open it. Other times it locks as normal. Don't think it's the door lock

normally if the pcb powers up the lock it is some other component within the machine that is o/c, probably time to call in the service engineer or else replace it if it is 7/8 years old rather than wasting money on it.

It's only about 4 years old!

check your receipt for date of purchase as Hotpoint normally carry 5 year parts guarantee, if in warranty ring them with model number etc and have your receipt to hand for engineer, you will only have to pay for call out. 0818 313413
