    Hi guys

Looking at selecting some good value wine for a wedding, food is Thai chicken curry and beef stroganoff.

    What would you recommend.

    Cheers!

Well champagne goes with everything :D so that might be an option.

I would think about an off dry Riesling or a Gewürztraminer for the curry.

The Stroganoff is another difficult food to match wine with I think . Both a white or a red would do the job. The Gewürztraminer or a Californian Chardonnay for White or for red a Cahors or Hermitage from France.

A good chat with your local wine merchant or off licence could be worth your while as there is often times great knowledge available there.

    Enjoy.

Does it have to be wine? I know the wine buffs love to pair food and wine but beer just as good and some might say a superior drink to pair with food. There is a beer for every dish. Wine is a very simple drink where as beer is complex with 4 ingredients, each one delivering a huge impact on the aroma and flavour of the beer. Wine is simply fermented grape juice.

For a green curry, I imagine a Belgian witbier would be brilliant. Coriander is an ingredient in both the beer and the dish. hoegaarden would be the most accessible commercial example but plenty of better examples are available.

A stroganoff is basically like a stew and we all know a stout goes well with stew but kick it up a notch and go for a smoked and/or imperial porter instead. Alaskan brewing smoked porter is a great example.

Perhaps beer is not wanted which is fine, just don't dismiss it. Too many people think of beer as tasteless yellow fizzy stuff. Thankfully restaurants in Ireland are starting to catch on that this is not the case and never was.
