Gaming PC Upgrade

Hi,

I've been thinking about upgrading my current setup for a few weeks and have decided to go ahead with it before Christmas. It has been struggling with some graphics intensive games at medium-high settings such as Sleeping Dogs and a modded Skyrim (runs vanilla fine at max settings). Looking to upgrade now for the likes of The Witcher 3.

Specs:

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6950 1GB
8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9
ASRock P67 Pro3 (B3)
Crucial M4 64GB SSD 6,4cm (2,5") for OS
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1000GB
Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 550W

1920x1080 monitor, happy with this for now so not really looking to upgrade at the moment.


Also looking at this HDD as well as an SSD for some games, so advice on that would be appreciated too.

Get a decent cooler for 30 euro and overclock the processor. Processor is still very good. A new graphics card would be a nice upgrade. All depends how much your willing to spend

I didn't really have a budget in mind though I suppose in or around €550 would be the upper limit. Roughly thinking €150 for the drives and up to €350 for graphics card.

Any recommendations for GPU? Would rather stick with AMD over Nvidia but don't mind switching if there's better value to be had.

Amd ..R9 280X 3 gig ram. dabs 260 at moment. But you will get most places in and around 270 -80.

Nivida gtx 770 2 gig ram 270 ish.. kinda same as r9 280x slightly superior graphics but less ram.

But your PSU made that decision for you.. you will go with that r9 280x as it is what your PSU will support. 1 6 pin and 1 8 pin( 6pin with detachable 2 pin as stated on your PSU).

You have 12 5 inches room for your Gpu in that case. Make sure what ever brand you get fits this.

Put rest of that 350 budget for the Gpu to the cooler or some 1direction headphones.

Personally I'd go,Card 270 ish,Cooler 30 ish , 55 for 1 tb HDD and 160 for 250gig SSD. That's say 530 give or take delivery included.

And use the SSD for gaming ,HDD for storing add-ons and whatever.

Meh just another way to go.
