I want to buy my 13 year old son a G-SHOCK GA100SD-8A for christmas but they look really big. He is average size for his age and I was wondeering if this watch would be way too big on his wrist and just look stupid. Anybody any experience with this or other similar size g shocks?

This is my other option but I prefer the first one.

They are rather large but i think it depends on the boy. A friend of our's 10 year old son has a 44mm dive watch and it's his favourite thing (Daddy has an Omega SMP and I suspect that's an influence) and he's very proud of it and like people to notice it. Don't forget he can always grow into it.

Interesting feature on the second one. Vibration Alarm.

50mm is a lot of watch for anyone to grow into! Although I suppose you'd expect a rugged digital watch to be big.

At 53x50mm they are big watches and the resin strap won't be much help there either as it's too stiff near the lugs to wrap around the (small) wrist.
You can always use the watch yourself if it looks too big and buy another one for him having the experience with the ones in the OP.
