As long as it doesn't affect their driving, who really cares? Mind your own business.

So do you have an issue with how they dress or how they drive?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,028 ✭✭✭✭SEPT 23 1989

they cant afford to put on the heating in the car:(

Probably because it is cold in the morning and the car takes a little while to get fully heated up.

I think you might need a nice cup of tea to calm down.

I wear gloves in the morning when I am driving.

I will do this when dropping the missus to work, I'd be absolutely freezing, that's the only reason.

When I get into my car in the morning it's freezing cold, and blasting the heat only blows icy air at me untill such time as the engine heats up.
The hood keeps me somewhat warn untill I've been driving long enough to turn the heating on.
That's why people drive with their hoods up. Relax

    Not on you're Nelly.

All the Jedi are dead... & I very much doubt it was a Sith Lord.

Maybe they don't like to see peripherally. It's certainly not cold enough to excuse it

    Jawas are another possibility.

I agree with the op .One of those hoodie wearers pulled out of a side road and nearly ploughed into me the other morning. No peripheral vision see.
And don't get me started on the hoodie / headphone combo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 880 ✭✭✭Rachiee

Wearing a hoods definitely affects peripheral vision.if they are cold they can buy a hat wearing a host is dangerous

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,534 ✭✭✭SV

Wearing a hoodie doesn't necessarily remove peripheral vision and if they didn't nearly cause an accident with you then surely this should just be in the fashion forum?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭Tzardine

Jayzus. Some people will moan about anything. Fair enough to have a rant about somebody speeding along but why are you worried about his choice of fashion. What are you opinions on people with afros ?

And I dont agree with the argument about visibility. It makes no difference at all and even if it was closed up like Kenny from South Park sure you are no worse off than somebody wearing a full face motorbike helmet.

There is a support line OP for issues like this. Its 1850 715 815

I suggest keeping your eyes on the road.

If it's worn for warmth it'd be pointless not to have your head covered sufficiently to obscure peripheral vision

You can cover the back of head and ears without affecting peripheral vision whatsoever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭TomCleverly

Think I'll drive with me hood up just in case I come across Jayo, might throw a hat on on top of it. Can imagine the names I'd be called.

It could potentially be a hazard, could affect their peripheral vision, I once nearly took down a motorcyclist who was overtaking me in the overtaking lane, checked my mirror, nothing to be seen, indicate out, checked mirror again, move out slowly and only for my peripheral vision seeing him coming up by my side I would of crashed into him for sure. I'm much more careful now and more often perform a 'lifesaver' in the car aswell as my bike

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,210 ✭✭✭nelly17

Well personally I'm not hip to the whatever . I just wear a hat, keeps the top back and sides of my head warm and I can pull it down over my ears to boot, with full peripheral vision might I add.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭Tzardine

This is the actual reason for it. It was a trend started by the original gangster called Q Eliz. Here she is rolling with her bitches.

There was reports of a gimp seen driving between Doonbeag and Spanishpoint....

Turns out it was only a guy in a winter wetsuit, on his way for a surf in Lahinch....

I drive with my hood up on cold mornings, its freezing, the car hasn't heated up yet and I am cold after getting out of my warm bed. It doesn't affect my peripheral vision and I really couldn't give a toss if people think I look like a knacker.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 401 ✭✭theblaqueguy

I always year my hoodie when driving especially if its cold
And for those complaining about the drivers peripheral vision being affected
.......they can just turn their heads to get a better view! Its not rocket science people!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,833 ✭✭✭CFlat

Why would anyone drive with their hood up, you wouldn't be able to see out through your windscreen? Jesus, some people haven't got a clue.

Realistically how many people turn their heads? **** all. That's all very well to say but it's not worth ****e after an accident, but **** it this is after hours the Craic must be had.:)

What if OP meant driving with the car's hood up, as in the bonnet....

Yeah I doubt it too. Totally didn't pan out the way he was expecting with the back slapping!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,904 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

Not half as bad as seeing young fellas wearing woolly hats in the middle of summer when it's over 20 degrees.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,041 ✭✭✭Seachmall

I wear my hood up driving, I don't like my neck being cold but I like to have the window down with the breeze blowing on my face. The cold air keeps me sharp, and when you're driving at the speeds I do you need to be sharp.

    Vroooooom!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,294 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Its bloody freezing these mornings and it takes at least ten minutes for my car to warm so you can f*ck off, ill wear my hood up if i want.
