I'm keeping my eye on videogamesplus.ca (Link)

If Killzone gets a good review I'll order it and I should have it delivered by the 29th.

    but what about import taxes?
would i be safe enough ordering a couple of games and an extra controller from them without being taxed too much?
like 2 games and a controller come to 128euro on video game plus ca
and its 190 on gamestop's website
is there a high chance of customs catching it and if they do what sort of charges will there be does anyone know?

I've not ordered from them for a while. Think the last order was in 2010 and it did not get flagged for import tax. You might want to order each item separately to reduce the chances of getting taxed.

I know that there is a new sorting office for everything that comes in from the states etc. and they are pretty brutal on the import taxes etc. at the moment. Especially coming up to christmas

I dunno if it counts as a deal, but if you bought call of duty ghosts on PS3 from supervalu for 45, then upgraded it to the PS4 version for 10, thats 15 odd quid off retail price.

Considering ordering the following through the 3 for 2 US amazon.com deal:

    Injustice: Gods Among Us
    Assassins Creed
    & (1 from)
    Knack
    FIFA 14
    Need for Speed

Any ideas which of these would be least like to have the downloadable content issue? Would Knack, as a sony game be less likely to have an issue?

I'd hate to order games only for them not to work ya know?

I hope there will be no issues with the DLC. I was thinking of getting NBA 2k14, Need for Speed and Battlefiled from Amazon.com myself.

I'm ordering through a cousin's US account. Ready to go at 17:00. I just want to pick the games least likely to have region lock/DLC issues. I presume they will sell out insanely quickly?

I have killzone coming in the mega bundle so that put me off call of duty and battlefield. I am very tempted by knack but I think FIFA could be handy to have?

Injustice could be a good fighting game?

Is it me, or amazon.uk PS4 games are really damn expensive too.

Still no update on final prices in gamestop?

I've ordered a game from them today. Will let you know what happens RE: customs. I've never had issues before importing from Canada.

    Warning...

When ordering from outside the EU do not go over €120 (post included) as this is the cut off point for customs allowance (iirc) . However, I would only order one item at a time (game, controller, etc) and wait till it is dispatched ,give it a few days and then order again.

I used to have quite a bit of stuff shipped from the US/CAN and got stopped the few times it went over the €120 mark (Astro /PC gear).

Order games all the time from hong kong, canada, US and Japan. Never once got hit by customs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,814 ✭✭✭Nemanja91

How long those shipping normally take with videogamesplus.ca?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,841 ✭✭✭lertsnim

    A week typically

Just be aware that DLC will be region locked, so buy a game that you're certain you won't want any DLC from :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,841 ✭✭✭lertsnim

Or buy PSN credit for whatever country you buy your gme from :) That's what I do anyway.

Which play asia offers and it works out cheaper than credit here so you've no excuse :)

Yup, I'm in the same boat. I was going to order my games off that canadian site but the DLC really put me off. I'm definitely getting BF premium and I dont fancy creating a new account + adding plus and buying american points just for it

I would be especially careful about ordering PS3 games from other regions such as the US. Most games come with a 16 digit code for bonus content and US codes currently do not work in Europe

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 52,404 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

If the PS4 works like the PS3 then you can create a US account, download DLC from there and it will work on any other account signed in to that system.

Now that's taking the assumption that it works just like the PS3 which it might not.

Any update on whether we can download the dlc through a us account?

We won't know until the European release. However those of you who were looking at buying BF4 in the states, you can do that without issue. An American disc will work on an Irish PSNID however you will need to buy Premium in Europe for the code to be redeemable in the Playstation store.

Anyone know what sort of charges custom would put on two games worth 100 euro / 135 dollars from videogameplus?

You just add VAT. No idea what it currently stands at. It's around 20% so around €20 customs charges.

I just got my Mam to get me Battlefield and the stand over stateside, I see EA have scrapped the online pass requirement so I hope I can just purchase premium for my account and not have to go getting PSN store credit from other regions etc, if I do then fook it....

Bit weird having a game with no console to play it on, i'll be looking at the box til the 29th... :/

You can buy premium here without any special requirements. You'd only run into trouble if you bought a premium code in the states OR if you have an American PSNID

Aside from being incredibly slow I've had no issue. You just have to accept you're going to be waiting if you use them.

Only problem iv ever had with them was the first time i ordered off'm back in 2005 (or whenever HL2 released), i waited 3 weeks after dispatch and the game never arrived, i emailed them and they sent out another one without any hassle.

Since then iv ordered off them a good few times over the years... if you can deal with 1 to 2 week deliverers, they do some descent deals.

Im probably gona order BF4 for PS4 from them some time after the 29th. With the state BF4 is in on PS4 right now in america, who knows when EA/Dice will get conquest working, along with fixing all the other crap thats wrong with the game corrupting save files and everything... cd/hdwow can take their time delivering it for 50e ^^

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,814 ✭✭✭Nemanja91

Ya I might order a game or two off them as I dont have the time to play it until close to christmas anyway so I dont mind waiting.

I just read that Japan is not getting it till February 22nd ? ... How come ? .. I would have thought that side of the world would have it 1st !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 721 ✭✭✭Pixelbastardo

Because sony have no competition in japan with MS, they have to get the west sorted first to compete with the xb1.

Videogamesplus.ca now has Need for Speed Rivals on "back order" so not sure when it's going to be back in stock.
Does anyone know another place to get it? The £45 version on amazon.co.uk is also unavailable.

Amazon have been typically the best priced, especially if you pre order in advance.

Check the PS4 megathread of pre order thread! Unless you pre ordered one your only bet is Tesco on launch day or reserve on launch day for Argos and pick it up on the 6th December. be prepared fora battle wherever you go. Some PS3 game will be playable on Gaiki when it launches

Yes they will all games are region free but DLC bought for them through Irl/EU accounts may not work. Hasn't been tested out yet.

On a different note, how often are customs withholding games which are purchased from these sites?

Im not approving of trying to get out of paying the VAT just wondering how vigilant they are.

Most of the time they think they are just DVDs or Blurays so they don't even bother stopping them for VAT. Not worth the effort to find a few games compared to their other regular revenue gathering items.

My first PS4 game arrived today - part of the 3 for 2 deal from amazon.com, when taxes and everything included it worked out at €49 a game.
NBA 2k14 - my first ever PS4 game.

Well Amazon added in import taxes when I ordered, so I think they had themselves covered from the start, but at €49 a game I am happy.
Delivered by DHL and Amazon did it the awkward way - sending each individually.

No, unfortunately for you, checked the link here - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057080615 and it no longer available.

Got the same deal with Amazon.de but you had to have ordered your PS4 from them and that worked out the same price, so I won't be buying games for a while, will be looking at PS4 games for weeks and not being able to play them...
That deal is still on but that one big condition remains.
