    Hey,

Does anyone know roughly how much a replacement wheel bearing should cost for a 2008 Golf? The front two on mine need replacing and the garage is quoting me €540 for labour and parts. This seems high to me, as a quick search online shows the parts costing between €80-€110 each. An old thread on boards.ie for a 98 Golf, had em at £24 + €50 for labour. Am I getting ripped off?

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Is that a main dealer price? If so it sounds about right. You should be able to get them done cheaper in an independent garage though.

Depending on the parts used anywhere between €300 and €400 for the pair fitted.

Well that's worth shopping around for so. Cheers.

    Sounds possible alright.

    Volkswagen golf V 2.0 tdi pd 16v. mot.bmn 1968cc 125kw 03-2006 t/m 12-2008

Looks like its between 150 and 180 euros for the hub for that model (SKF)

Not sure what model you have.

On the older models it possible just to change the bearings .. newer cars its almost impossible to press them back into the hub.

Got a quote of €370 from an independent garage (got a recommendation from a friend). Still a stinger but much happier with that.
