Is this guitar a fake?

Hi all. First time posting here and I'm hoping somebody can help me out.

I was recently given a gift of a Martin guitar and I'm wondering if it's a fake.

The reason I think it might be a fake is I cant find a serial number anywhere on the guitar. I did a bit of research and it seems the serial no. should be stamped into the neck block but I've looked everywhere and there's no sign of a number anywhere.

I'm not really that bothered if it is a fake because it looks and sounds fantastic. I'm just more curious at this stage.

I've included some pictures so can anybody tell me if it's a fake and what model it's based on? Thanks a lot.

^^^I think the serial number should be stamped here.

absolutely a fake, sorry to say!

*looks to based on a D45*

this is what the headstock of a Martin should look like, almost 'wedge' shaped

the sticker is a dead giveaway too

It was the sticker that made me think about it in the first place tbh. I thought it looked out of place.

The lack of a serial no. cemented it.

Like I said,I don't really mind because it really is well made and sounds great anyway.

Thanks a lot for getting back to me so fast.

Thanks. It makes me wonder why someone would go to all the trouble??

If you can build a guitar this well, why not put your own name to it?

    Am I awful naive? :o

I wouldn't worry about it if you like it. As the sticker says, its a 'fine guitar'. Just don't sell it on as a genuine Martin.

    ;)
