I need to send a package of books to the USA. Parcel measures 30CM X 21CM X 10CM and weighs 7KG. Anyone able to offer any suggestions about the cheapest option for sending these?

An Post is probably the best option -> http://www.anpost.ie/AnPost/PostalRates/Sending+Books+Abroad.htm

You may need to split the parcels into two parcels.

I was never aware of a difference for books. Huge difference too.

5kg is €60 normal post, €28 for "book post".

You may have to split as said though.

Always check to see if is cheaper in one anyway, I would expect it to be, but someone pointed out if you are buying postal orders it can be cheaper to buy 2 smaller ones, e.g. 2x€25 postal orders might have been cheaper than 1x€50. It would not surprise me if something weird like this could happen with other services.
