Im usually a big fan of dx.com as many of you are, my Granny was on the lookout for a decent torch, by coincidence I got a newsletter from an outlet called Tmart which is also similar to dx but a good bit cheaper.

Had to use code "tmart131111" (without quotation marks) to get it at $2.99 delivered; the site accepts paypal so I took a punt knowing my money was safe. Landed on friday after two weeks from ordering, great piece of kit at this price, kept the granny happy anyway! Very bright torch and a bargain, no batteries included but handily enough it takes 3 AAAs

Here's a pic to show the build quality which is decent

Also, what i didnt realise at the time that would have made it even cheaper was to register and sign up to the newsletter to get loyalty points which are convertible to cash when ordering so you could get the torch for close to €2 delivered

    Cheaper similar item in www.buyincoins.com : http://www.buyincoins.com/item/12000.html

    Only $2.68

FYI: I'm anti DX.com now myself... they'll be my supplier of last resort now.

Thats my bikelight, think I paid 5 times that price for it, excellent light, takes about a month for me to go through 3 poundshop AAAs with it used a few hours a week, probably not suitable for dark country roads but around town/streetlights its unmissable.

When Im cycling with it I often see roadsigns a kilometer or longer down the road flashing in the distance and cant believe its this little light throwing itself that far and being reflected back.

How was your overall Tmart experience? Delivery time etc.. I have placed an order but have read mixed reviews.

Great compared to Dx; although there is some sort of points system to reward loyalty I hadnt figured it out at the start to use them to cheapen the price a bit more, shouldve been made clearer. Delivery time better than dx, what youd expect from an Asian seller on ebay, circa 2 weeks

Its showing up at €7.84 before applying discount code. Was this the original price of it?

I use this torch on my bike too - I have it on this clamp : http://dx.com/p/universal-bicycle-mount-8274

and it works a treat, need to be careful not to pi55 off car drivers with it however, its really blinding.

Yep, you enter the code at the payment page, no way would I buy it for the original price! Not sure how valid the code is though; and its definitely one per account as I tried to order a second one at this price, so I made a new account to bypass this

Here's a few links for cheap tablets, but when buying a tablet you must remember that you get what you pay for.it all depends really what you plan to use it for.the ones in these sites are actually not bad spec wise.

I just went for the generic 36 euro tablets on tmart. Cheapest I could find and the same tablets are about 45 on other sites.

I got my Christmas decorations just yesterday so hopefully the torchs will be next and all the other crap I impluse bought

Got my little torch today, nice and bright for a few quid. Fairly prompt delivery too, WAY WAY quicker than DX, so think I will stick with Tmart from now on, have ordered a set of solar powered fairly lights so hopefully they might arrive by Christmas. (doubtful but a lot more hopeful than I would have been with other chinese sites)

Incidentally, what is the little unscrewable ring on the torch for? The AAA battery thing doesn't work with it in, so is there a bigger battery you can use in its stead?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,057 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Yeah theres a type of rechargeable battery thats popular with cyclists that is bigger that fits in when you extend it with the little ring, on a phone so no link.

Probably an 18650 battery. Look up Ultrafire BRC 18650 3000mAh on ebay, they have short circuit & overload protection.

You have to remove the center ring mentioned above.

Mine arrived today, delighted now just have to keep it out of the kids reach.
