    Hi Folks
I'm now the proud owner of a lovely british racing green 66 MGB roadster.
Already had a few great weekends tricking about in her.

I'd be grateful on yer advice though for a boot kit, what should I include for those time when the 50 year old technology just lets you down.

The obvious ones are bits for changing wheel, triangle, tow rope, jump leads, water, oil, fire extinguisher…

But what else, I've seen some posts on keeping a spare fuel pump or distributor, but I'd appreciate yer thoughts on what's practical and necessary.

    Cheers
    hick

I always bring a large 20 inch plastic toolbox with me full of gooddies, you'd be surprised how much you can into one if you pack correctly. Its always full as I dont use stuff from it day to day and I can bring it in any car I want.

Normally, jump leads and a foot pump which are in a seperate bag, tow rope, a small hammer, a pliers, a few screwdrivers including a long and small flat head, a set of imperial spanners, stanley knife, a plug socket to fit your spark plug.

However I always find that its not the tools your stuck for, but the odds and ends you might have at home in your garage.

So I also bring a few nuts and bolts and a few self tapping screws, a few meters of electrical wire, a few large hose clips, a pack of fuses to suit your car, and if you can manage to find it, a few pieces of radiator hose and rubber fuel hose, normally second hand stuff will get you out. Also a small bit of sand paper, few meters of twine and some cable ties and a roll of insulation tape.

I dont bother with oil or fluids as I would normally check before leaving, but I would bring 2L of water. Might be handy to have a spare spark plug and rotar arm and if you really wanted, a spare ht lead and distributer cap but depends on the confidence you have in your car.

We go on a lot of club runs and you would be surprised what you can jimmy together on the side of the road out of my tool box to get cars going again.

Burst rad pipes, broken exhausts, fuses gone, rotar arms and points, and fuel startvation would be the most common issues I have seen.
