    Darrus Boy,

Did you ever price 20ft 6 Slat. Did you build? Does this width of a slat require a dividing wall?

    Thanks

OK I got 20'6 inch slats priced at 125 euro per foot plus VAT at Drumderry delivery Nationwide.

I presume they are a meter wide. Looks good value at that. 4 bay she'd would be 2500+agitation points and beams for under side walls of sheds if putting in wall's.

No dividing walls these slats are designed to take the span. Just make sure they are to dept spec. Another supplier may be Creagh concrete in NI.

Price up putting 2 10ft 6 slats on and a middle wall. That's what we did here, worked out cheaper. You could never drive on those 20ft 6 slats

The loading or tensile stresses generated on the underside of a 20foot slat is 4 times that generated on the 10 foot slat, for the same load.

Anyone know how much 10"6' and 12"6' gang slats are costing now?

That was my next question. Also the mid wall required what sort of allowance should I make?

I’d say the maths are a bit off , it’s more than likely 125 per meter squared. The 4 bay would end up around 14-15k
The best I got on 12’6 4 bay 2 mixing points was 4800 plus

Sounds expensive at 15K+vat taught the other price sounded wrong all right.

Was the total lenght of the tank 63 ft plus two agitation points 5ft each?

    Is the plus VAT

I've corrected my original post. Sorry. I forgot to put in per foot. That's 125 euro per foot.

I was thinking of going 55 ft in total. That's 3 bays.

Around 7k so wouldn’t be bad for that size slat. Do you really need a 20’ slat? Yes mine was plus vat, I wasn’t overly happy with the slats I went with. I’d definitely spend a few quid extra and go with Wright’s slats on the next shed I’m doing.

    Banaghager ri6-1-768x576.jpg

We have Banagher slats, non slip, would definitely recommend them.

    16 ft/bay so 3 bays is 48 ft. + Agitation points.

Slats for a four bay is 8k+vat I think for slats agitation points are extra

Its not a question of really needing 20'6 slats. I am simply trying to maximize my Bang for the buck.

What would be considered the best value tank. Say Height by width x Lenght. Is a particular tank considered better value than others?

I could lumber on out wintering but this autumn was difficult with the rain starting in August.

I did some costing these quotes are from different suppliers. The assume 4'6 wide slat. Is 4'6 Standard?

    10’6 200 euro

    11’6 210 euro

    12’6 233 euro

    14’6 272 euro

    16’6 352 euro

    20’6 558 euro

From that 16' 6'' slat look best value. Allowing for tank costs. However you would need a 4 bay shed and it still would not have as large a penning area as a 30' slats. I have 16' slats and they make a great size pen.

I personally like the 14’6” slat , two foot toe area and it gives me enough storage for slurry for a pen of seven big cows for the winter comfortably.I like all having feed space at the one time. If your set on big tank, I’d look at a double tank with pillars and feed on both sides.what are you housing and how many? A lot will depend on your current yard too. Try and avoid feed passages they are a pain unless your running a diet feeder.

Currently have 32 head of stock. But Farm has capacity for twice that.

Right now I am just looking for value in a tank.

What do you mean by feed passages? You mean one each side of the slats?

Talk to a concrete crew, they'll price it up for you. Most will buy everything, steel, concrete and slats
Our last tank with 20ft 6 slats and spine wall cost 370e per ft inc vat

What part of the country are you in?.

I'm not far from Athleague County Roscommon. How long was the tank you built? How much room did you leave at either end of the spine wall?
    How do you find agitating?
