Golf 6 after market headunit with bluetooth and nav

I just bought a 2011 Golf Tdi comfortline. Nice car, low mileage, well looked after and I got it at a great price but despite being a comfortline it is pretty basic spec wise.

I need bluetooth and a satnav.

I was looking at getting a parrot kit connected and also at a new Garmin unit and I am looking at spending €350 plus.

That got me thinking, the car has the basic head unit fitted and no MFSW so why not spend a little extra and buy a head unit with nav and blue tooth built in. I had a look at the RNS510 and had one for just under €500 when I the seller told me that to get bluetooth that I needed to buy a VW blue-tooth module that will end up costing another €250 ish. He also advised that as I don't have the MFSW then why not look at non OEM alternatives.

So here I am. Normally I wouldn't even consider changing a head unit, I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, I play some CD's (normally rock), have been know to play some MP3's and listen to the radio (normally Newstalk or the last word of today FM.) and am perfectly happy with the sound quality from the existing head unit... I know nothing about after market headunits. Nada but was looking at a Pioneer unit in Halfords that would allow me to pair with by Galaxy S4 and from what I understand mirror the screen and use the navigation on that (I can buy the garmin app).

Budget is ideally max €500 (that's not a target) but I would be willing to go slightly over if it meant a really good unit with good Nav and mutli phone syncing. (work phone just basic answering and personal phone )

My only non negotiable stance is that it has to look OEM and not stand out like a sore thumb..

    Any recommendations \ advice ?

Kenwood DNX-521DAB , probably on the more expensive end but garmin nav , full ipod control , usb , bluetooth, DAB, full integration for steering wheel controls and the CANBUS system in the car.

Nice unit and does tick all the boxes but refurbed units are making €700 plus on ebay. They were only sold through VAG dealers so rare.

The OEM RNS510 is virtually the same price..

Anyone have experience of the parrot asteroid smart or the Dynavin VW ??

I'd so with OEM. Even without the mfsw you only need that to change the volume or from radio to aux/cd/hard drive if you have a full mfd already. Had a full mfd, no mfd and rns-510 and it worked a treat. I'd go with that over aftermarket.

I would love to go OEM but to use the RNS510 I will also need to fit the oem bluetooth module which which costs a bloody fortune. I found one on ebay for 250 but most are twice that..

By the time I buy the headunit, bluetooth module and cables I am probably looking at the bones of a thousand euro and then fitting and codeing..

I can go with a parrot kit and garmin satnav for 350 or a parrot asteroid or pioneer app2 headunit for around 500 to 550 fitted..

Just cannot justify paying twice that just to go oem..

Try this Pioneer unit + Golf 6 radio harness adapter + fascia
Probably not the best head unit, but should be descent, tick all the boxes in terms of feature and also within your budget.
