The other day I spotted a 145 the other day heading only as far as belfield from heuston.

According to the bus itself it said it was heading to belfield campus but according to rtpi it was only going as far as belfield flyover.

Does anyone know which one is correct?

Some students chose to take the 39a over the 46a/145 as it brings them directly into the campus grounds. This might cause confusion.

I got one of these during the week, the bus seemed to terminate at the flyover. I'll always get off at that stop when I can so I had no reason to ask if he was continuing on, however everyone on the bus seemed to be getting off at it - I don't know if the driver said anything or not as I was listening to music and wouldn't have heard it. I didn't notice if the bus went on into the campus or not, so I can't say for certain, but it did appear that he wasn't going in.

They're short workings to the flyover - they head back to Donnybrook depot afterwards.

I'm sure that the students will cope with the walk - it's not THAT far!

True but why can't the buses just display belfield flyover?

Because presumably no one has programmed that in as a destination on the display database.

I've been on 46Es going back outbound in the morning that run to the flyover as well. When the Stillorgan bypass routes say Belfield, it's the flyover.

Whereas when 17s operate only to Belfield, that's its normal stop inside Belfield.

Then What's the point of the 145s stating "belfield campus"?

They are finishing adjacent to the main entrance to the campus. It's not exactly misleading.

Frankly, I think that there are far more important things to worry about with regard to public transport.

It's a minor comaplaint but it's a simple thing to get right. It doesn't cost money, it doesn't need management approval or a government decision. When they decided to terminate the buses there, someone should have checked that the displays had that destination programmed. They were being sloppy, as DB always are when it comes to communicating with their customers.

    A valid point markpb.

However Communication by it's nature is a two-way process,in information terms, both imparting and recieving.
Nowhere is this more apparent than with destination displays and both aural and visual displays on newer vehicles.

Many people,as Frank describes, are tuned to a vastly different channel than the world in which they exist at any one time,it's simply a new communications barrier which needs to be overcome ?

It can appear at times that many people simply do not want to be informed of things they do not want to hear or see....;)

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

I should have put the word 'probably' in that post. I wasn't listening to music loud enough to drown out all other sounds - I didn't want to categorically state that the driver didn't make an announcement as it was possible I didn't heard it if he did.
